William 'Bill'  Podshadley 1943 - 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William Joe Podshadley, aged 80, who joined the angels in heaven on August 4, 2024. Bill Podshadley passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, in his sleep and surrounded by his beloved wife and adoring children. He will be so deeply missed.

Bill Podshadley was a respected and honored professional, known for his warm, friendly personality and his sense of humor. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology and also his teaching certificate from Southern Illinois University. He went on to teach junior high school science for ten years, then transitioned to become a Division Manager for a major pharmaceutical company, where he worked until his retirement.

Bill Podshadley was a devoted husband to his wife, Dee Ann (Kassube) Podshadley. The two of them only had eyes for each other and were best friends from their marriage at age 20 until their 60th wedding anniversary, which they celebrated just prior to Bill’s passing.

Bill Podshadley was also a loving and supportive father to his son, Robert, and to his two daughters, Kelly and Susan. Known as “Papa” to his daughter-in-law, Carrie, and to his granddaughters, Dee Dee and Mara, Bill Podshadley was adored and revered by his extended family as well.

Bill Podshadley was an eternal optimist who loved children, animals, science, and nature. Through his own behavior, he taught his family to work hard and to be curious about the world. He was always accepting and encouraging of others, and his positivity was inspiring.

Bill Podshadley loved music very much, and he would often dance and sing along to the oldies, the lyrics to which he knew every word. He was humble, intelligent, and always a chivalrous gentleman. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. He brought so much love and joy to the world.

Bill Podshadley is survived by his wife, Dee Ann, his three children, Rob, Kelly, and Susan, his sister, Mary Ann, his daughter-in-law, Carrie, his two granddaughters, Dee Dee and Mara, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Bill Podshadley will be deeply missed by all of us who knew him and will also be very much alive in all of our hearts forever.
