SPRINGFIELD, IL - Rick M. Broida, 73, of Springfield, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at St. John's Hospice.

Rick was born Sept. 23, 1941, in Springfield the son of Eddie and Georgina Yocom Broida.

Rick was a 1962 graduate of Springfield High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Springfield Barber College. He worked as a carrier for the newspaper, Steinburg-Baum Store as a clerk, Salvation Army and numerous restaurants in Springfield. He was a member of Monroe Christian Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed reading and smoking his pipe.

He is survived by one brother, Terry Broida of Springfield; sister-in-law, Angela Broida of Fairview Heights; nieces and nepews: Eric (Ellen) Broida, Aaron (Carrie) Broida, Jeremy (fiancée, Tressa) Clark, Jessica (fiancé, Chris) Clark and Matthew (Nicole) Clark all of Springfield, Jason (Christy) Broida of O'Fallon, Mo., Kelly Adams of Fairview Heights, Amy (Patrick) McDonough of Chesterfield, Mo., and Tammy (Sean) Fink of Chatham; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Johnson officiating.
