JoAnn Pennington of Springfield died on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 in Capitol Care Nursing Center.  She was a graduate of SIU, majoring in journalism.  She was employed by the Springfield Sun and Memorial Medical Center before retiring as a clerk at U.S. Electric Co.  She is survived by a sister-in-law, Patricia Pennington of Springfield; two nieces, Dawn Voyer of Auburn and Giner DasGupta of Barrington; three great-nieces; a great-nephew; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
