Nikki Carpenter(1943 - 2018)

Springfield, IL—Nikki Carpenter of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2018, in Bartlett, IL.

She was born in Springfield, on November 23, 1943, a twin daughter of Peter Dimitry and Anna Katherine (Lutyens) Hudd, both of whom preceded her in death. She fulfilled her entire life living in Springfield. She was married to Dr. Robert Dean Carpenter "Bobby" and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2010. 

She graduated from DuBois Grade School, Springfield High School and attended Southern Illinois University. She worked and retired from the State of Illinois. 

She was a member of Springfield Elks Ladies #158, Progress Circle of King's Daughters Organization, Firemen's Club and former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Nikki, and the love of her life, Bobby, were active with the Springfield Ansar Shrine Temple, and Springfield Elks Lodge #158. Their love of dancing, golfing, bowling, singing, shuffleboard, shooting pool, entertaining and dressing for the St. Patrick's Day parades and Halloween every year will always be remembered. 

Nikki is survived by her twin sister, Lee Hadley of Astoria, Oregon; daughter, Shelly Bott (Dan) and their children, Allison, Owen and Evan Bott, of Bartlett, IL, daughter, Kimberly Holloway (Jeff), and her daughters, Stephanie Dunn, and her daughter, Anna Grace, and Brittany Daniel (Jon) and her son Carson, of Greenbrier, AR.

Nikki was a life member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church. In her memory, contributions may be made to Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church. 

A memorial gathering will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Vancil-Murphy funeral home with Reverend Julia Melgreen officiating.

Private inurnment of Nikki and her husband, Dr. Robert Dean Carpenter, will be in Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden.
