Obituary

Charles "Mart" Markwell, 74, of St. Louis County MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Beloved son of the late Charles and Lucille (nee Shull) Markwell. Mart is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Susanne (nee Masterson) Markwell; sons, David Thomas (Jennifer) Markwell and Charles "Guss" (Karin) Markwell; grandchildren, Megan, Jordan, Amelia, Eli, and Levi Markwell; and sister, Marilyn Ruch; brother-in-law to Tom and Delma Masterson and Rose Wolfson. He was a beloved uncle to Amanda (the late Danny) Wolfson, Scott (Tina) Masterson, Kerry (Jaime) Masterson, Doug Ruch, and Michelle Lynn. He was a dear cousin and friend.

Mart was an accomplished man who was proud of his family and achievements. He was a first generation college graduate becoming a management consultant and supported his family by owning his own business, Practice Management Services for over thirty years. He had great interest in family genealogy and particularly his father's service in the Marine Corps during World War I. Mart was a member of the St. Louis Scrabble Club, Metro St. Louis Pug Rescue, and the Wolf Sanctuary. He was past president of SMD (Society of Medical Dental Consultants).

Growing up, Mart was a newspaper delivery boy for the State Journal Register (Springfield IL) and he won a trip to Colorado with other newspaper boys which probably was a contributing factor to his love for travel as an adult. He and Susanne visited many beautiful places together including France, Scotland, England, Wales, and of course, Colorado, which was one of his favorite places.

His sense of adventure and kind heart will be missed by all.

Friends may visit on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann, MO.
