Obituary of James Allen Branthaver

James A. Branthaver, 80, formerly of Chatham, passed away on November 18, 2023, at Litchfield Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on March 8, 1943, in Elkins, West Virginia, the son of Frank I. and Ruth M. (Doering) Branthaver.

James graduated from Springfield High School in 1961. He went on to be a professional bowler. James managed bowling alleys in both Athens and Auburn and founded Bowling Services International. He worked in China, Russia, Israel, France, the Czech Republic, and throughout the United States.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard “Dick” Branthaver.

He is survived by one brother, Jan, of Chatham; one son, Alan Branthaver of Palmyra; one daughter, Kim (James) Eddings; one grandson, Gregory (Rachael) Eddings of St. Louis; one granddaughter, Carrie (Zachary) Holliday of Springfield; and one great-grandson.

The family has planned a private graveside ceremony.
