Charlotte Hilgeman VIEW PROFILE

CHARLOTTE ANN HILGEMAN Charlotte Ann Hilgeman left our earthly world on October 24. She was born on July 7, 1943 to Margaret Eileen (Johnson) Hilgeman Lindsey and Joseph Lawrence Hilgeman, in Sarasota, FL and grew up with her family in Springfield Illinois. She attended San Francisco State College in the early '60's, and in 1976, she volunteered with VISTA. In April of 1986, she purchased the historic Stirling City Hotel and spent the next 30 years making Stirling City her home. She was a tireless volunteer and loved talking to people and interacting with community members and town visitors. Her interests included local history, tourism, jazz, cooking, arts and culture. She was involved with the Stirling City Historical Society and helped establish the town's museum and a tool lending library as well as a community garden. She was the board president of Friends of the Arts Butte County and BCAC.tv. She served on the Butte County Environmental Council, sat on the countywide tourism committee, made an unsuccessful run for county supervisor, and even hosted a special visit from Huell Howser. She shared her love of music with KZFR listeners from the early 90s through 2005 as a regular DJ on the Facets of Jazz show. Charlotte is survived by her brother Carl William Hilgeman, his wife Linda Hilgeman, their children Carin Hilgeman, Janel Hilgeman Murphy, Nikole Hilgeman Adams, Eric Hilgeman; also her nephews Reece Avram, Sean Avram, and Trevor Avram. A Celebration of Life will be held in Charlotte Ann Hilgeman's honor Nov 12 at the Stirling City Community Hall.
